I’m… I am so sorry,” Melanie sighed, looking away, too ashamed… too sad to gaze into his brown saddened eyes, “I… I only have until tomorrow, and then I will be leaving here for some time… perhaps ever.” She breathed heavily, tears raining down the sides of her face, pooling around the bottom of her chin before falling against the gentle blades of grass massing around her bare feet.

No… this can’t be,” Travis protested, not wanting to believe her words as he reached out to her, meshing the tips of his fingers into hers as feelings of anger mixed with sadness ran chaotically through his mind, “I still… haven’t told her… I haven’t had time to tell her how I feel… tell her how beautiful she is or how… how every time I gaze upon the smile on her face.” He thought, “The world around us just fades away.”

Come… Melanie,” he said as he paused, trying to find the words to express the feelings rushing through him at that very moment, “Come with me… Please,” he demanded, cupping her hand into his as he brushed it up against his lips, kissing her hand gently, passionately. “Follow me…,” he requested, pulling on her arm. Travis thought of only one place he wanted to take her, one place which he knew her beauty would fit in with the world. The spot he had called his secret, the place he stumbled upon years ago, the place he would go whenever the world around him became too much to handle. Quickly she followed behind him, never taking her eyes away, forcing herself to remember each step, each sway of his hips as they ran through the forest, ran away from the world they had no control over, the life, the fate being pressed upon her.

Travis took her deeper into the woods than she ever dared trek before, than her guardians ever thought possible, until finally he stopped just short of a large tree hidden in the thick of the woods, guiding her quickly through a maze of brush and old abandoned ruins until they came upon an open clearing. It was here at the bottom of a beautiful cascading waterfall where he brought her. Here where the relaxing sounds and the brisk warm breeze pressed upon both of them, here where he would clam his heart as hers once and forever.

This… this is beautiful Travis,” he heard his beloved gasp as she walked ahead of him, dipping the tips of her toes into the warm flowing stream. “The water is so warm yet cool and that waterfall is breathtaking,” Melanie gasped as her eyes shimmered with excitement towards her surroundings. “This place is nothing… nothing without you here to share it with,” Travis admitted.
