Sinful Pleasures
Nashua Jacobs stared at her reflection in the full-length mirror and frowned. She had thick, curvaceous hips, apple-size ample breasts, and caramel mocha skin which smelled of casaba and freesia. Her body tingled with nervousness as she dressed, the thought of tonight’s rendezvous prowling the walls of her subconscious. The blond highlights of her dark-brown silky tresses only enhanced the sparkling shimmer of her hazel eyes, while the wand of the black mascara brush lengthened her lashes to near perfection. Giving her hair one last final spritz, she admired her creation in the mirror and smiled. By the time she had finished, her heartbeat was racing like the engine of a racecar gearing up for the big race at the Daytona 500.
Overwhelmed and flattered, Nashua remembered how Patience Grammercy, her boss, strode into her office and handed her the black embossed envelope. She knew the significance of the invitation and her psyche drove her forward to accept without hesitation. Soon after Patience’s left her office, Nashua sat alone with haunting thoughts of the green-eyed monster rearing its ugly head. She realized the door to temptation had been opened and the dire consequences to follow could not be controlled. Once the she walked through the door, she would be fair game and there would be no turning back.
She finished dressing and groaned, a cluster of butterflies fluttering in the pit of her stomach. It was all she could do to keep from falling to her knees and praying to the porcelain God. “What am I doing?” she asked, applying a chestnut ornamental gloss to her luscious plump lips. She’d heard many stories about swinger parties and while the novelty intrigued her, none excited and scared her more than the possibility of what she may encounter tonight at the Passion Party.
The sultry voice of Alicia Keys echoed and ripped through the silence. She stepped into her bedroom, the illuminating blue light of her cell phone’s LCD screen flashing. It was Patience. She swallowed the mountain of fear, retrieved the cell phone from the nightstand, and hit the answer key.
“Patience, hi,” her voice cracked and she tried to settle herself. She could hear music and laughter in the background. She lowered her head and cleared her throat. “How are you?”
“Where are you? The party started over an hour ago.” Patience told her right away.
Nashua blinked slowly and apprehension singed her nerves like hot lava. “I, uh, I couldn’t decide what to wear,” she answered and paced back and forth.
“What does it matter?” Patience snickered. “Your clothes won’t be on long anyway.”
The truth hit her like a ton of brick and she stumbled backward. She positioned herself on the bed and found staring back at her from the bedside mirror, the reflection of an old friend. The green-eyed monster was readying itself for an all night excursion, resurrecting from the ashes of a smoldering fire Nashua could never extinguish.
“Nashua, are you there?”
“Yes, I’m here.” She ran her fingers through her hair and sucked in a deep breath, before letting it out slowly. “Patience, maybe I should cancel. I don’t think I’m ready for anything like this.”
“Cancel? That is out of the question.” Patience squawked. “I invited you, the girls can’t wait to meet you and I want to show you off.”
“I’m already late and I would have much rather been there at the onset.” Nashua knew her excuse was lame, but it was all she could think of on such short notice.
“Nonsense, now get your ass over here and don’t make me wait a minute longer.”
Nashua heard the silence and shut her eyes tight. She was in a no win situation and if she didn’t show, it could prove disastrous. Following a stiff drink and deliberate stalling, she checked her face. After she was satisfied, she grabbed her purse and keys, and headed for the door.
