By the time they reached the creek the sky opened and hail began to rain down on the truck, making it hard to see. Tim thought he should pull the truck over.
Up ahead, rows of Beechnut Trees lined the west entrance to town. Some forefather had the insight to plant a dozen of the grey giants on each side of the wide Avenue. Their bark wore the scars of generations past. Years of carvings held lost secrets.
“I think we should wait a bit. Some pretty big hail. I...I hope this won't make you late.” He spoke softly.
Nervous both.
“You're quite bright, you know Tim. Yes we should be safe.” She meant something else altogether. “No we won't be late.”
“Mrs. J...I”
Fanny slid closer as she uncrossed her legs. Placing her hand on Tim's leg. “Call me Fanny , Please.”
She sensed his heat, felt his tremble.
“Oh...” Tim took in her aura. “Fanny, I mean, you'd be a natural at ice cream. After having your dessert last night...It could only get better with goats milk.”
