Forward
This particular piece was requested by a reader of some of my other work. It has been a long time coming but it was worth it. I’ve never done a request before so it was a new experience getting in touch with someone who read my work and trusted me with their own personal fantasy.
This story, although it had its ups and downs, was very fun to write. Especially when the characters started to come to life on their own. There was a little confusion at first because I couldn’t envision a scenario that seemed to fit the request. It took a lot of thinking and some brainstorming with my girlfriend to sort it out.
In the end, once the story had a premise it basically took a life of its own. I imagined this shy female character who wanted to experience more from sex but was too afraid to admit it not only to her forward, soon to be lover but also to herself. She put me in mind of lovers I’ve had that just didn’t know what to say. It wasn’t their lack of knowledge, they knew the basics. It was just that they had been disappointed for so long that they didn’t know how to say what was so good and refreshing about finally getting what they wanted.
The tragic events that surrounded Ruth’s closure served to reinforce her silence. I think that this is a scenario that many women have trouble dealing with in one way or the other. In their heart of hearts they know that something great is going to happen to them. They want to let go but they don’t want to expect too much and be disappointed.
Sex is such a many splintered subject in American society and many women are just finding out how to express what they truly want and learn how to communicate how they feel. It’s not easy for them and sometimes for the husbands, boyfriends, or friends with benefits that are involved.
As she learns, though, it takes communication from both ends and trusting each other to feel fulfilled. Enough from me. Get comfortable and have a good read.
A Decadent Proposal
Guilt
Ruth Chadwick heaved a sigh of exasperation as she saw him walking to the door with his overconfident shit eating grin. His visits had become more frequent as he became bolder despite her rejection. Overall she couldn’t complain. His orders were always big, and she’d had to cook more to supply his daily demands. Her issue was his incessant crooning and fawning over her. The last thing she wanted in her life right now was a man. Not now, not after what had happened.
“I’ll take the usual today, Ruth.”
“Sure thing Antoine, anything else?” Ruth wanted to cover her face immediately and she blushed. Why had she asked that? She’d only offered him an open invitation to hit on her again.
Antoine craned slightly over the counter looking at Ruth’s well rounded thighs and ass.
“Got a special donut back there for me?”
“Antoine! How old are you?”
“Old enough to know better and young enough to still do it.”
Ruth would have kicked him out on his ear with that remark but she held her tongue. Inside her body was excited. She was flustered in more ways then one. In some place dark she didn’t understand that it was because he was baiting her, turning her on in subtle ways because he desperately wanted to see her face as she came all over him. Somewhere deep inside heart was a sense of betrayal. The thing that irritated her the most and what was foremost in her mind was the fact that he continued despite her obvious discomfort, no matter how sexually related it my have been.
“I’m sorry,” he suddenly blurted with a wry chuckle, “but when I see a woman as beautiful as you sometimes another part… of me takes over and I stop thinking.” His dramatic pause did nothing to make her feel at ease with the situation. In fact it pushed her body further.
“Antoine Sykes, God love ya.”
“Well, I understand he may be busy but if I can request an angel by name I’d like Ruth to get the job done,” he winked and his white eye seemed to disappear in his jet black skin.
“Order up!” Cathy had saved her by the bell.
“Why thank you Miss Cathy.”
“Antoine, you’re so polite.”
“As always,” he paid and left after auspiciously giving Ruth another look over.
“Uncultured pig,” Ruth commented once he’d left the building.
“Hot, muscular, tall, dark and handsome uncultured pig,” Cathy retorted in his defense. She’d known Ruth long enough to be able to get away with the remark.
“I’m sorry even if I only own this rundown donut shop, I’d still be setting my sights higher then a construction worker errand boy. He’s young Cathy, and more suited for a woman of your age, but not your caliber.”
“When are you going to let it go Ruth? I worry about you.”
Ruth looked down at the register and Cathy left her there. She knew she’d gone too far too fast for her, but Ruth knew she was right. Ruth went home that night to her lonely house. Jeff had bought the business for her some years back when she was tired of being at home alone. It gave her something to do and most customers were decent enough folk that just wanted to take a load off and enjoy her baked goods.
She knew, however, that Antoine wanted to enjoy her other baked goods. As she approached her mid-forties the feeling of still being attractive did titillate her. With a violent shake of the head, she perished the thought. There was only one man that ever did that to her or ever would and that was Jeff. She looked at his picture and longed for his touch. She missed him dearly right then. She also missed his council, wisdom, and support. He was the calm center in her chaotic emotional universe and right now more than ever she wanted his gentle ways to guide her.
Ruth sat down with a glass of wine in the empty house contemplating how she would dissuade her suitor and preserve her posterity. There had to be a way but the more she thought the more she wanted to do something with him. At the end of the day she ended up only determining that she wouldn’t smile or acknowledge him no matter what Cathy said. She may have needs, but it was more important to maintain her faithfulness to Jeff.
Ruth pulled herself out of the bed the next morning determined to avoid Antoine. She would simply have Cathy serve him from now on, or so she thought. A quick shower and some make up later and she was at the shop while the sun was still hitting the snooze button. She hummed to herself while she made Antoine’s order for the day. Cathy was in next and she unlocked the front door, the next person in would most likely be Antoine. He came in early for his morning order and Ruth was getting a little anxious.
He showed up right on the button. His dark hand gripped the front door and he pulled it open with ease, even though it was a little heavy to Ruth and Cathy. He saddled up to the bar and said, “Mornin’ ladies. More of the usual please.”
Every fiber in Ruth’s bones told her to run to the back, but she didn’t. She already had his boxes of various donuts and pastries ready. She carefully pulled them out and placed them on the counter.
“And a coffee too please. Black with cream only.”
Ruth stood shocked and unsure of what to do. Normally by now he would have paid and left.
“I’m early today. I have a couple of minutes to spare,” he spoke up seeing her hesitation.
“I’ll get that for you.” Ruth scampered over to the coffee machine unsure of what to do if he was going to stay there.
“You hear that Ruth? He likes his coffee with some cream in it.” Cathy giggled like a school girl having knocked down the pins that Antoine had obviously set up.
Ruth blushed as hard as the morning sun and politely excused herself to the back to make some more donuts.
“Sure is a shame. I came all the way here just to see your pretty face, but I guess a guy has gotta be patient if he wants something good.” Antoine spoke into his coffee.
By now Ruth had butterflies in her stomach. She nearly fell over herself trying to get away from him, letting the swinging door slam as much as a swinging door can.
“So what is it about Ruth, Cathy?” Antoine asked diligent to a fault and not wanting to miss the opportunity to catch Cathy’s ear.
“Well, whadya mean?” Cathy probed grinning like the Cheshire cat.
“I can see she likes me, whether she wants to admit it or not. Her face brightens up like a lighthouse every time she sees me. She asked me how old I was. I’m 36 this May you know, and I’m thinking I’d like to settle down with a good woman. I missed a lot of life runnin’ around with various women of ill repute and all. But I run a good business and I could take care of her.”
“So, you really do like her?” Cathy arched an eyebrow intrigued by the fact that he owned his own business and wasn’t a simple errand boy.
“Well of course, I mean I thought anyone could see that.”
“You know how you men can be.”
Antoine arched an eyebrow.
“Not cause of your color either, I mean how you break hearts.”
He frowned stuck in concentration.
“So she’s been with a lot of men?”
