Chapter One
A series of mumbled expletives broke past Madie’s lips as she shoved a bunch of clothes into her suitcase. Bitter emotions threatened to spill over as she contemplated the conclusion of this two-year relationship. It had been his suggestion that they live together and she had hastily agreed, eager to experience a more serious level of commitment with him. Somehow, they’d started annoying each other about seven months into it. Dennis, in particular had become intolerably complacent and insensitive, leading to terrible arguments that had her crying alone in the bedroom.
