Dark Fear

Beth Babell walked down the cobblestone streets with her date Simon Dove. She enjoyed his company and felt her breast heave with light air that made her feel as though she were on cloud nine. She giggled in such a way that her tone carried for metres around in order to proclaim her joy. The laughter caught the attention of a silent wanderer who had the scent of blood underneath his nails.
Beth walked across the street with Simon as they moved in order to veer around a strange dog that looked as though it might be infected with sickness. They then began to talk in order to make light of the subject, and as an act of charity Simon threw a mint across the street for the dog to eat. Beth smiled as the dog instantly began to catch wind of the trail of scent, and she clapped out her joy as the dog found the candy item.
“Throw another!” Beth encouraged as she felt her heart warm her cheeks. “He is such an awful creature! It would be wrong to not give him yet another treat;” she muttered as she felt her lips crook in a pout-filled grin.
“Very well my love! Another one for good luck!” orated Simon before he turned his back to Beth as he fumbled with another mint.
Simon threw the mint and watched as it fell onto the other side of the street. He watched as the dog hunted for the item, and then he cheered as he spied the dog as it began to chew. However Simon's cheers were hollow without the sound of clapping in order to accompany his triumph, and as he turned around in order to inspect why Beth had not cheered with him. Simon jumped as he was faced with empty dark.
