A LATTÉ LOVE STORY by Serena L'Amour

Shannon drove down the B.C. Expressway towards her suburban home. Women are bitches, she thought, we really are. She assumed it was one of the reasons she didn’t have many girlfriends, especially as she got older. The one thing, she thought, that made her furious, both at herself and other women, is when we’re not in a relationship, all we complain about is not being able to find a good man, and when we have one, he’s not good enough; we always want something more.

William was a good man, he was a great man. They had met their senior year at BCU, both fresh out of other relationships. They clicked immediately, and they wondered if it was just a fling, a rebound, or true love. Although they were enamored with one another, they were cautious, not ready to face heartbreak again. Slowly but surely, their love began to grow, and they became more familiar and comfortable with one another, to the point they no longer feared being hurt, and so their partnership continued. Over the years, they became closer than any other couple they’d known before or since their meeting.

Ten years later, they found themselves still together, and still loving towards one another, but not in love as they had been before, and as Shannon found herself increasingly attracted to other men, especially Alex, the manager of the Java Joint, Shannon’s main source for caffeine ever since her freshman year. He’d been working there for a couple of years, and over the last few months, Shannon felt a good vibe between them as they engaged in a bit of pleasant conversation and light-hearted flirting. Plus, God, the man was just incredibly beautiful, and she often conjured up his image while masturbating.

What the hell is wrong with me, thought Shannon. She was lucky to have a husband like William. She’d seen most of her friends in relationships that ended less than amicably, she’d known one or two that had been with abusive men, so why was she tripping over the lack of fireworks in her own marriage? It wasn’t like they never had sex - they fucked pretty regularly, at least a couple of times a week, and both left the bed satisfied. But something was missing, or maybe Shannon was just looking for something she’d lost sight of a long time ago.

The never-ending traffic caused Shannon to nod off a bit a the wheel. She heard a blaring horn go off. “Move your ass, lady!” shouted the driver behind her. Sor-ry, she said to herself, as she gave the finger to the horn blower. I have to get something to wake up, she thought, and she exited on Chiroptera Boulevard towards the Java Joint. Shannon parked in the second space from the sidewalk and shut off the engine. God, she thought as she looked in the vanity mirror, I look like complete shit today. Part of her hoped that Alex wouldn’t be there to see her, but most of her secretly prayed he would. She could use a little pick-me-up, after all, and she touched up her hair and make up before walking inside.

Alex smiled and nodded at Shannon as she walked in the door and got in line. He’s going to think I’m hideous, she thought. However, she was not at all unhappy to see him, and as she waited in line, she started to become a little flush, and each time he looked at her with those deep green eyes, her pussy got a little wetter.
