Dedication
This story is dedicated to myself, for having the courage to put pen to paper (or hands to keyboard as it would be) and let me dark side roam freely.
So incredibly pissed off; for the third time this week my boss just dropped another ‘pressing file’ in my lap that had to be completed before I left the office. It was 4:30 in the afternoon on a Friday. It would take me at least three hours to wade through the paperwork before I could even determine if the application would be eligible for funding. Damn! This would be the fourth time in two weeks I would have to cancel plans with my husband. He was forgiving but if something didn’t give soon I’d be spending a lot of time on the couch at home. Damn! I picked up the phone to call Tony to inform him that I’d be late again this evening. “Hi babe, wha’cha doing?” I asked holding my breath, knowing he would know the only reason I’d be calling this late in the afternoon. “Damnit Celia don’t tell me you can’t make it. Don’t tell me you’re cancelling our plans once again.” He sounded so angry and frustrated, for a moment I thought about ditching work and meeting him. For a moment—I loved my job and it paid me extremely well. It helped us afford the lifestyle we’d always dreamed of. “I’m so sorry babe, Mr. Sanderson just dropped a VIP file in my lap and I have to get it done before I can—“He cut me off abruptly, now he was the one extremely pissed. “You know what Celia? You go right ahead and work. You’re going to find yourself married to that damn career of yours if this keeps up this is bullshit and you know it!” He slammed the phone down in my ear not giving me a chance to respond. I sat collecting my thoughts for a moment before I tried calling him back. Of course the call went to voicemail. I sighed, hung up the phone and resigned myself to an evening stuck in the office. I’d have to make sure I did something special for him and soon. I loved my husband and it certainly wasn’t worth sacrificing my marriage for my career, but right now I had work to do.
*****
I stood and stretched. I had been working nonstop for the last four and a half hours. I was finally done with the file Mr. Sanderson left for me to finish. It had taken me a little longer to process than I had expected. I was tired and couldn’t think of anything but a hot bath and a glass of wine. I’d been trying to call Tony off and on all evening to no avail. He was angry and would need some time to calm down. Hopefully he’d be home when I got there. I shut down my computer and began gathering my things to leave for the night. There was no one left in the office except the janitorial staff. I locked my office door and headed for the elevator that would take me to the parking garage. I was tired and distracted thinking of Tony and how much I love him and how I could possibly make things up to him. I got off the elevator on the 7th floor of the garage where I normally park my car. Headed to my car still lost in thought, I saw a beautiful woman headed in the same general direction of where I’d parked. She looked somewhat upset but I had problems of my own. I didn’t need anything else to keep me from getting home to my husband. “Excuse me. Excuse me!” I tried pretending I didn’t hear the stranger calling out, like I said before, I just wanted to get home to my husband. I could hear her pick up her pace as she tried to catch up with me. Damnit. I turned around with a clearly impatient look on my face, “Yes?” I asked hoping she would catch the hint. “Uhm, I’m terribly sorry to bother you. It’s just that my car won’t start. Left my headlights on this morning and well I guess the battery is dead. I was wondering if you could possibly give me a jump? I hate to ask but it’s so late everyone has left for the day, even the garage attendant. It could take hours for roadside assistance to get here and I’m already terribly late for an engagement.” I sighed, it was late and I was exhausted but she was right—it could take hours on a Friday night to get roadside assistance for a dead battery. I looked around the garage and apparently our cars were the only ones left; at least on this level. Resigned I ran my hand through my hair and took a deep breath. I looked her up and down; from a distance the woman had been attractive, up close she was absolutely gorgeous. She was at least 5’11” but she was wearing stilettos that put her over six feet. Her hair was cut in a short spunky style with one side longer that swept over her right eye; it looked adorable when she tossed her head to clear her vision. The heels made her ass stand out, I was pretty sure I could balance that glass of wine I was thinking about earlier right on her cheeks. Damn, she was saying something to me and I completely missed it while I was checking her out. I was extremely bi-sexual and looking at her reminded me that not only had it been months since Tony and I had entertained another woman in our bedroom but it had been a couple of weeks since I’d made love to him. Jerking back to reality I cleared my throat, “I’m sorry you were saying something?” I asked, certain that I was blushing from the neck up after being caught gawking at another woman. “My name is Amelia; I have jumper cables in my car if you want to pull your car closer we can both be on our way. You look tired and I’m sure you’d like to get home.” She turned to walk away towards her car; I watched her walk, the way she moved her hips bordered on swagger, I found myself lost in fantasy again. I sighed and ran my hands through my hair before turning to finish the short walk back to my car.
And that’s the last thing I remember before waking up tied to what I think is a bed in this dark room—
*****
I tugged at my restraints trying not to panic; from the clinking noise they made I was pretty sure they were handcuffs. I gave my ankles a tug as well; Damnit, same clink. It was right around this time I noticed I was completely naked—oh shit. Now I was beginning to panic, I couldn’t see anything, I was cold and I began to scream. I thrashed around in the bed yanking at the handcuffs screaming for all I was worth, “Help!! Help!!! Help Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!” I began sobbing, what the hell was going on?!? Where in the hell was I? What the fuck happe—Ok, ok don’t panic, relax—ok SCRATCH the last thought—how in the HELL am I supposed to relax in this situation?!? Ok, think, think—just let me think for a moment…..what’s the last thing I remember? The gorgeous woman in the parking garage; I remembered turning my back to her to get in my car and then the rest is blank. That fucking BITCH!!! Wherever I was and whatever had happened to me already and was about to happen was all of her fault.
I began to take deep breaths to help calm myself. I need to think and evaluate the situation I was in. I was handcuffed to what felt like a bed that was clear so I wasn’t going anywhere without someone’s help. I blinked my eyes to see if I could adjust to the darkness and discern anything about the room. Upon blinking I realized that my eyes were covered-blindfolded. Ok, I would have to rely on my sense of hearing a bit more to tell me what was going on around me.
Just as my heart rate was returning to somewhere near normal, I heard a door softly creak and then footsteps. I couldn’t tell if the steps were being made by a man or a woman; there was no clacking of heels against the floor. That either meant the floor had quality carpeting or the person was barefoot. My thoughts were interrupted by a voice. “Glad to see you’re awake Celia. I thought we were going to have to resort to artificial means to wake you.” The person, whoever it was, was using some sort of voice distortion device. Damn technology-I had no idea if my captor was male or female. The voice continued to speak, “Relax, if you cooperate, no one will hurt you, at least not in the way you think. You have a very important lesson to learn and we’re going to teach you. We’ve been watching you for quite some time; always in a hurry, back and forth to work, on your cell phone. Never paying attention to your surroundings or life in general; we couldn’t let you continue on this way, something has to change. Be a good student and pay attention, we don’t want to have to bring you back here for additional lessons.” Retreating footsteps and the door closing. My mind was racing-they knew my name-they had been watching me. What the WHAT?!? My mind was reeling once again and I could feel my breathing try to speed up. All I could think about was Tony-if I had just told my boss no for once, if I had just kept my plans with the best man in the world I could have avoided all of this. The fear was being replaced with regret-regret for all of the things I would miss if I didn’t make it out of here alive-regret for the things that I had already missed, so busy pursing my climb up the corporate ladder. I couldn’t let myself begin to despair, they said they wouldn’t hurt me; I just needed to focus on surviving.
