Hired to
Perform
on my
Desperate
Boss
By Cheryline Lawson
I was only 18 years old; having completed high school education with the help of a guardian. My parents were all dead and I had to look for a job to help with my expenses, but it was hard to get one. It was during such a moment of desperation that I learnt of a job advertisement in a magazine through Alex, who was a friend from the neighborhood.
A reputable local company urgently needed an office messenger and to me, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. That night, I wrote an application letter, attaching my school certificates and resume.
The company was about three miles away and I decided to deliver it there personally. The managing director was a woman, famous for her excellent managerial skills and personality. She was a role model in the community.
